inch gauge psig). The kettles shall be provided with a draw-off located at the bottom of the kettle body to allow for complete drainage. Class A kettles shall be fabricated with insulation contained between the kettle body and the outer casing. The kettles shall be provided with safety valves designed for the maximum operating pressures. The kettles shall b; equipped with one piece covers with handles. Table mounted kettles shall be provided with a stainless steel basket. Unless otherwise specified, a swing spout water supply connection with faucet shall be provided (see 7.1). When specified, an electric or mechanical water metering device shall be furnished (see 7.1). Unless, otherwise specified, a graduated stainless steel measuring stick shall be furnished with all kettles, except for the type I, style E kettle (see 7.1).
3.1.1 Tilting kettles. When specified, tilting kettles-shall be equipped with a cover with handle and shall be of the lift-off type (see 7.1). When specified, actuators and counter-balancing springs shall be provided (see 7.1). Steam inlets and outlets shall be through trunnions. An insulated handle shall be mounted on the side of the kettle for tilting purposes.
3.1.2 Non-tilting kettles. Non-tilting kettles shall be equipped with covers and handles. A tangent draw-off assembly equipped with an outlet strainer, a strainer hook, and draw-off valve shall be provided and located at the lowest point inside the kettle body.
3.1.3 Kettle mountings.
3.1.3.1 Leg mounted. Leg mounted kettles shall be constructed with stainless steel tubular legs and stainless steel adjustable floor flanges. Legs shall be either continuously welded to the kettle or threaded into sockets located on the outside kettle bottom as specified (see 7.1). When specified legs shall be braced (see 7.1).
3.1.3.2 Wall mounted. Wall mounted kettles shall be furnished with a wall-bracket or an in-wall carrier support. Wall brackets and in-wall carrier supports shall be capable of supporting the weight of the kettle plus its contents. Bracket frames shall have provisions for securing valves, fittings, piping, and openings for controls. Frames shall have at least three bolt holes.
3.1.3.3 Pedestal mounted. Pedestals shall be of the manufacturer’s standard design and shall be provided with a base with a minimum of four equally spaced bolt holes. Pedestals for tilting tables shall be provided with trunnions for tilting. Tilting shall be controlled by a hand wheel or crank.
