2.2 CID based part identification number (PIN). A document based PIN to identify types, styles, capacities, and classes are included in section 7. This identification numbering procedure is for Government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contractor.
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Design and construction. The kettles, including the outer casings, shall be fabricated from 300 series stainless steel. The inner body shall be fabricated of a single piece of 18.8 type 304 or 316 stainless steel, as specified (see 7.1). The interior and exterior of the kettle shall have a number 4 sanitary finish as referenced in ASTM A 240. Unless otherwise specified, the kettles shall be constructed in accordance with the appropriate ASME codes and shall be operated dependably by direct steam at pressures ranging from 5 to 25 pounds per square inch (psi) (see 7.1). The completely assembled units shall be provided with all piping, inlet and outlet valves, controls, and gauges for connection to steam supplies.’ The size of the steam inlet pipe shall be as specified (see 7.1). Globe and check valves shall be appropriate for working pressures up to 125 pounds per square
