2.1.1 Outer shell or casing. The outer shell or casing shall be made of stainless steel conforming to types 302, 304 or 316 of ASTM A 167, or type 430 of ASTM A 176, and shall have a thickness of not less than 22 gauge. It can also be fabricated of chromium nickel-clad, cast aluminum, or aluminum alloy, types 5052 or 6061 of ASTM B 209.
2.1.2 Rollers. The rollers shall be fabricated of stainless steel pipe conforming to ASTM A 269 or made of chrome, and shall be removable for replacement or repair.
2.1.3 Grease drip pan. The grease drip pan shall be fabricated of stainless steel conforming to types 302 or 304 of ASTM A 167, or type 430 of ASTM A 176, and shall have a thickness of not less than 22 gauge; or made of aluminum conforming to types 3003, 5052 or 6061 of ASTM B 209, and shall have a thickness of not less than 20 gauge.
2.1.4 Heating element. The heating element shall be coil resistant wire, fused magnesium oxide insulation, incolay sheathed.
2.2 Electrical requirements. The grill shall have two independently controlled heating systems. One system shall control the front half of the grill and the other system shall control the rear half. Each control shall have an on-off indicator light. All grills shall be designed to operate on single phase power source. Each grill shall be supplied with a power cord having a length of 6 feet or greater, UL approved 3-wire9 with attachment plug for grills designed to operate on a 60 hertz power supply, and without attachment plugs for grills designed to operate on 50 hertz power supply.
2.3 Codes and standards. The grill shall comply with National Sanitation Foundation Standard No. 4 and Underwriters Laboratories Standard No. 197.
2.4 Data name plate (Government unique requirement see 5.4). The grill shall be furnished with a data name plate in accordance with the applicable requirements of MIL-STD-130 except the requirements for: (a) Methods of applying; (b) Identification tags; (c) Information not required and (d) Optional marking information shall not apply. The data plate shall be made of minimum 20 gauge corrosion-resisting metal and attached to the grill by rivets or screws in such a manner as to meet the applicable National Sanitation Foundation sanitary requirements for this equipment. The plate shall contain the following information which shall be stamped, engraved or applied by photosensitive means:

Procurement Contract Number
Specification Data
Manufacturer’s Name, Address and Telephone Number
Supplier’s Name, Address and Telephone Number (List only if different from
Manufacturer)
Manufacturer’s Model Number
Government Approved Manual Number (when specified, see 5.2)
Each plate shall be placed so that it is readily visible to the operator during normal operating use and so as to not adversely affect the life and utility of the grill.
