switch with an integral temperature control and a red light for each control to indicate whether the unit is on or off. Removable drip pans shall be located under each unit. Heating units shall be either enclosed helical coil or solid plate type. Tops of heating units shall be capable of supporting flat bottom cooking or heating vessels. Hotplate tops and bodies shall be fabricated of 300 series stainless steel. Provisions shall be made to allow for adjustment, service and replacement of all components without major disassembly. Hotplates shall be 16 inches wide (maximum), 27 inches deep (front to back) (maximum), and 13 inches high (without legs) (maximum). Hotplates shall rest on stainless steel or aluminum legs.
2.1.1 Electrical characteristics. The hotplates shall be designed for operation on the following electrical characteristics:
Types I & II style 1, sizes 1 & 2- 120 V, single-phase, 60 Hz
Types I & II, style 1, sizes 3 and Types I & II, style 2, sizes 1 & 4- 208 V, single-phase, 60 Hz
Types I & II, style 2, size 3- 208 V, three-phase, 60 Hz
Types I hotplates shall be supplied with a power cord not less than six feet long with a grounding conductor and a NEMA approved connector plug.
2.1.2 Standard compliance. Hotplates shall comply with NSF International Standard No.4, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standards No. 197 and 1030, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard No.70, and NEMA standards.
2.2 Data nameplate (“Government unique” requirement). The hotplates shall be furnished with a data nameplate in accordance with the applicable requirements of MIL-STD-130 except the requirements for: (a) Methods of applying, (b) Identification tags, (c) Information not required, and (d) Optional marking information shall not apply. The data nameplate shall made of minimum 20 gauge corrosion-resisting metal and attached to the hotplate by rivets, screws, or welding in such a manner as to meet the applicable NSF International sanitary requirements for this equipment. The plate shall contain the following information which shall be stamped, engraved, or applied by photosensitive means:
