RINSER-SANITIZER, CAN
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-R-19038.
Salient characteristics.
Description. The rinser-sanitizer shall be a pedestal mounted unit consisting of a bowl, nozzle, floor mounting base, pedal operated hot and cold water valves, vacuum breaker, check valves, piping, and seals. The rinser-sanitizer shall be designed to clean garbage case up to 25 inches outside diameter and 27 inches high. When bolted to the floor and connected to a cold water supply line and a 180oF water supply line, each capable of delivering at a pressure of 30 psig. The nozzle shall spray at a rate of 10 GPM with either pedal fully depressed. The unit shall be capable of withstanding a pressure of 180 psig for 1 minute without any leaks. This shall be determined by replacing the nozzle with a suitable pressure gage. The unit shall be designed to provide easy access to all pipes, valves, connections, etc., and not require the use of special tools for servicing.
Specific. Specific component item requirements are as follows:
a. Bowl. The bowl shall be dish shaped to a minimum depth of 4 inches and shall have an inside diameter sufficient to accommodate the garbage can. The top of the bowl shall be located at a maximum height of 25 inches from the floor. The bowl shall have not less than 4 stainless steel spokes firmly attached to support the cans above the contaminated water within the bowl. The bowl shall have a 1-1/2 inch I.P.S. drain pipe extending 1-1/2 inches to 6 inches below the bottom of the bowl. The top of the drain pipe shall have a removable stainless steel screen.
b. Nozzle. A rotary type nozzle shall be located in the center of the bowl. The nozzle shall be fabricated from stainless steel, brass, bronze, or aluminum or any combination thereof. The top of the nozzle shall be located at a maximum weight of 33 inches from the floor. The nozzle spray pattern shall be effective in all inside areas of the can.
c. Pedestal. The pedestal shall have a base with holes for mounting bolts and shall be designed to support the bowl, pedals, and piping.
