COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
OVENS, PIZZA, COUNTER-TOP, ELECTRIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to Military Specification MIL-O-43884.
Intended use.
This commercial item covers a commercial counter-top pizza oven.
Salient characteristics.
Construction. The pizza ovens shall have one compartment with two metal decks. The asbestos board dimensions for each deck shall not be less than 16-1/4 inches wide, 16-1/4 deep and 1/4 inch thick. The deck clearance dimension shall not be less than 3 inches. The exterior of the oven shall be of stainless steel. The outside dimensions of the oven shall not be greater than 23-1/2 inches wide, 23-1/2 inches deep and 18-1/2 inches high.
Controls. Each oven shall be equipped with a 0-15 minute mechanical timer graduated in minutes. Each oven shall have a thermostatic temperature control, a pilot light, and an “ON-OFF- switch. The thermostatic control shall be a rotating dial type with a range from 300oF to 700°F. The “ON- OFF” switch may be a separate component or may be integral with the thermostatic control.
Electrical characteristics.
The type I pizza oven shall be 120 volts, 60 Hertz, single phase. The wattage for the type I oven shall be 1800 Watts and shall be equipped with a 6 ft. UL approved 3 wire power supply cord with NEMA 5-20P plug.
The type 11 pizza oven shall be 220 volts, 50 Hertz, single phase. The wattage for the type 11 oven shall be 3000 and shall be equipped with a 6 ft. UL approved 3 wire power supply cord without an attachment plug.
Standards. The ovens shall comply with UL Standard No. 197 and the National Standard Foundation No. 4.
Identification plate. In addition to the marking and identification required by UL 197, the identification plate shall include the contract number and national stock number.
