COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HOTPLATES, ELECTRIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to W-H-636.
1. ABSTRACT.
1.1 Abstract. This commercial item description covers electric hotplates in the following types, styles, and sizes:
Type I- with power cord for portable use
Type II- with outlet for permanent connection
Style 1- one heating unit hotplate
Style 2- two heating unit hotplate
Size 1- 1000-1050 watts (each unit)
Size 2- 1200-1700 watts (each unit)
Size 3- 2000-2600 watts (each unit)
1.2 CID based part identification number (PIN). A document based PIN to identify sizes of items is included in section 5. This identification numbering procedure is for Government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contractor except as information on “Government unique” data nameplates (see 5.4).
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Design and construction. The design and construction of the hotplate shall be in accordance with UL Standards 197 and 1030 and NSF International Standard No. 4. The hotplates shall be designed for use on counter tops, with controls on the front panel. Each unit shall be activated by an ON-OFF
