COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
GRIDDLE, WITH OVERHEAD BROILER, ELECTRIC
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial item description.
1. CLASSIFICATION.
1.1 classification. This commercial item description covers an electric griddle with overhead griddle.
1.2 Part identification number (PIN). The part identification number shall consist of the commercial item description number, A-A-52063.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 Design and construction. The griddle with broiler shall consist essentially of two cooking source: a griddle and an overhead quartz broiler.
2.1.1 Griddle. The griddle section shall consist of a griddle top supported by a wraparound stainless steel body that houses the heating elements, thermostats, and grease drawer with 6 inch adjustable tubular stainless steel legs. The griddle surface shall be a minimum of 800 square inches with a nominal Length of 36 inches. The griddle surface top shall have a grease trough which shall enable the grease to drain into the grease drawer. The grease drawer shall be constructed in such a manner to prevent overflow and shall have a handle to facilitate removal. The griddle surface shall be steel, highly polished, 1 inch thick ± 1/16 inch. The off/on switch and control knobs shall be mounted on the front of the griddle frame. The griddle temperature shall be controlled by three individual thermostats. The thermostat dials shall be graduated in intervals of 25°F and shall have a minimum operating range of 175°F to 450°F. The grill shall be equipped with a splash guard ac the sides and back of the griddle surface. The splash guard shall be at least 3 inches high.
